This rugged 100-mile stretch of the Rockies lies within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, a vast 22-million-acre landscape and one of the largest, most intact temperate ecosystems on Earth.

The Continental Divide runs straight through the heart of the Winds, and the Continental Divide Trail takes one of its wildest routes here—climbing high passes, threading through alpine basins, and skirting the glaciers below Gannett Peak, Wyoming's tallest summit.
